Phasing out R22: Energyst works with you!

From 1st January 2010, it will no longer be permitted to use the new refrigerant R22 to (re)fill existing cooling systems. R22 is an HCFC, is harmful to the ozone layer, and the government has ordered it to be phased out. Until 2015 only regenerated R22 may be used. R22 will be completely prohibited from 2015. What will this mean for your equipment and how can you continue using it?

Maybe you are already addressing this and are already aware of the number of different options for adjusting your cooling system. However, you may not have made a decision yet and that is why we would like to explain the different options to you.

As the owner or user of a cooling system with R22, you have the following options:

1. Allow the current system to run without modifications for as long as possible. This does bring risks with it with respect to the availability of recycled R22.
2. Have the system rebuilt so that a replacement refrigerant can be applied.
3. Replace the cooling system with a new system with the latest processes.

The choice is yours, but each choice may affect the continuity of your production process. You may have to deal with failures for which the permitted recycled R22 is not available. Whilst upgrading or replacing the current system, it is possible that your system will be temporarily unavailable.
