Power for the renovation of a navy supply ship

Damen Shiprepair is the Netherlands' largest ship repair company. One of its largest bases is in the Dutch city of Schiedam. One of the main projects in 2005 was the renovation of the Dutch Navy’s supply ship, the Hr.Ms. Zuiderkruis. The entire exterior of the ship was taken in hand, and both of the main engines were reconditioned. The ship still needed to be fully operational during the renovation work. The shore connection at Damen Shiprepair was not sufficient for such a large project. Energyst’s assistance was therefore requested, to keep a generator set in operation throughout the renovation work. The maintenance of the generator and the supply of diesel were carefully and accurately planned in consultation with Energyst in order to keep inconvenience to a minimum.
